And Here Comes the Storm...

Over the summer, my boyfriend and I embarked on what I call our 7 State Epic Road Trip Extravaganza! We drove from California through Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming to Yellowstone National Park and back again. It was an absolutely beautiful trip with stunning scenery and unforgettable sights. It was difficult to choose just one lighting image for this blog! In addition to the wildlife and breathtaking views, Yellowstone National Park boasts an unbelievably wide range of landscape. From the reflecting hot spring pools and towering geysers to snow capped mountains and wide open meadows, every bend brought about new inspiring sights and unique natural lighting. One can easily see why this place is a photographers dream! When this image was taken, we had just spent all day hiking through dense forest up a mountain and finally reached an open look-out point. We had not realized that a storm was fast approaching. I love the split sky reflected in the winding river. The darkness quickly encompassed the land as if out of a fairy tale. The storm clouds even have a silver lining of light around them. As the last bit of sunlight faded remarkably fast from view, we were suddenly stuck in a downpour, with thunder, lightning, and even hail. The warm temperatures dropped to freezing. But just as quickly as the storm came, the sun pushed through the clouds and it passed, leaving us soaked, but awestruck. :)
